This cd,Don't Call Me Mama Anymore is selected highlights recorded Live At Mister Kelly's in Chicago,is proof positive that Cass Elliot had reached the pinnacle of stardom that she so richly deserved. The orchestration is crisp and clear, backing Cass with full, rich tones so well, that you can really feel the full effect of that magnificent voice of hers. This 14 track cd is packed with some of the most powerful, emotional, and soulful songs I have ever heard from Her vast repertoire of music! From Her first perfomance of "extraordinary" she definately does extraordinary things. My personal favorites are the rap sessions with the audiance,(up close and personal, and very funny), and her rousing interpretation of The Torch Song Medley that will really knock your socks off! The Night Before is an accurate account the longings of love, sung so poignantly by Cass, that it cuts right to the soul. "I'll Be Seeing You" a Jo Stafford standard,is performed by Cass in such a way that you feel like you've stepped back in time. " Theme From L'mour" makes you think that Broadway would be a natural extention for this talented star. There are no bad songs, only good songs on this cd! on a scale of one to ten, this is definately an eleven!
